Gee For Nari!

It's been such a long time since I've posted and I miss it! But I've been keeping occupied with a lot of other art that hasn't hit the scanner. I had to take a second to do something fun and for someone too!

This 6x6 went and goes out to a dear friend Nari, who is currently already in Korea and won't be coming back. Do well out there Nari and don't forget "Gee!"

Late Night Drawing #4

So Rad Dan gave me some willow charcoal to play with the other night
and every since then I can't put it down!

Of course I've used it many times over but I haven't had the joy
of solely using it to draw in a long time.

Here are three quick drawings that aren't anything special but were fun for me.

Little Lines and a Painting.

A collection of some small line drawings that I really took too.

The painting also holds a special place in my heart.

Father Bear bringing home food.

My Friend Dave creeping through a community of Natives.

4 Breasts.

Biggie Portrait.

Just coming back from New York, I thought it only right to post my Biggie portrait.
Brooklyn's Finest is one of those iconic nouns that all illustrators and artists
should draw or paint at least once in their lives.
Kinda like tigers and gorillas.

Figure Drawing 04/28/09

Last Sunday I was just taking up space and air so I decided to
break my fast from TSA and go for some extra life drawing.
It was a spontaneous decision but I'm so happy that I did it!
I almost forgot for a second that the whole reason why I'm
in this illustration game is because I love to draw.

During my session I dropped my 4B general and it was toast!
You know what I'm saying. The worst position you could
be in - sharpen - break - sharpen - br e a k.
Like damn man, now I'm paying ten dollars to look at a naked guy.
lol But dun-dun-dun-dun-dunt-DUNT! I
yelled out good ol' "E-CHO-GE-O" and ask a korean guy if I could borrow
some of whatever he could give me.
Of course - conte - the thing I never use.

But whatever, I actually enjoyed it and
it took me away from drawing so technically.
It was a nice feeling to draw with tone instead of line.

These drawings are both five minutes long.

Late Night Drawing #1

So I should have been working on an essay that's due for me this Friday but
instead I thought it better to get some grey scale practice in. Looking at
busts and casts inspire me to draw and paint to know end (wish I owned one) so I
decided to do just that.

One of my life goals is to sit down in front of a fountain, any
fountain for that matter in Florence and draw that mother up!
Just thinking about that gets me amped!
Like my ex-girlfriend always said to me, "Someday Jesse, someday."

Kan-Man

An Illustration illustrating the review to Kanye West's newest album, "808's and Heartbreak"
The short of it is that he's a cry baby and he sounds more like a robot than human.

Respect. Protect. Fulfill.

An illustration assignment where we had to illustrate three words: Respect, Protect and Fulfill. The parameters though were that the illustrations had to be floating images and black and white (no tones).

Respect.
Protect.Fulfill.

Black Saturday.

Really? This shit's back again... I'm not bitter...

I'm just still hurting so much from it all.

Birch Bark

For our very first illustration assignment we had to come up with a personal guilty pleasure and create an illustration for it. My guilty pleasure was ripping birch bark from birch trees.

This pleasure came about from when I was little and would frequently go to North Bay to see my Grandparents. They had a cottage there with birch trees that I would strip before the end of our visit.

Looking back on all this and relating to my illustration, it was the joy of revealing something underneath the surface that I found so entertaining. It felt like it was for my eyes only, as if the tree regrew it's "skin" just for me, so I could rip it away again.

GEE GEE GEE GEE GEE!!!! BABY BABY BABY!!!

Listening to "Sexual Sportswear" over and over again can have an effect on you. So to balance it all out, I turned to my 9 girlfriends, SNSD! (Girls' Generation)

Check em' out! They're damn addictive though, to look at and listen too!

Flamingo Dancer.

A drawing for school where I had to use reference from a Flamingo dancer.
I really wanted to go deeper with my concept but the whole assignment was about the
folds of the dancer's dress.

Even this extent felt good though. I haven't drawn like this in awhile.

"I'm Clean!"

An hour study of a rubber duck from my shower!

From the looks of it there's a lot more to be done,
especially in the folds area of the painting. Reason being is that, for this study and more to come I want to push myself to keep a steady pace and learn to paint faster.
Let's see where this takes me!

On a side note. This goes out to Ania - "I'm Clean!"

Happy 26th Jimmy!

A present I painted for a good friend.
He loves bears and loves drinking.
Not sure which one more though but I would guess drinking since he just opened a bar named, "Last Call"

Location:
Commerce Gate - Last Call Bar & Lounge - Highway 7 & Commerce Valley Drive West

It's a wicked spot to drink and have fun at!
In the words of Shredder - "Go! Play!"
